Crystal grids amplify energy and intention by merging crystals with sacred geometry. Sacred geometry being the oldest language of the universe (vibrational frequencies and patterns found in the cosmos and in nature), and crystals being millions of years old, are brought together in perfect symbiosis. Crystal grids have multifunctional purposes, and are commonly used for Healing, Meditation, Laws of Attraction, Spellcasting, and Energy Work. Crystal grids work with metaphysics and universal laws - each with a purpose and resonance, and they are one of my favourite spiritual practices. As a practicing holistic intuitive, I work with crystals and grid designs that I feel drawn to for specific reasons and needs, often during Full and New Moon Phases, Equinoxes, and Solstices. I would say that an intuitive approach to crystal grid work tends to harness a more powerful, bespoke energy for your cause and petition. You can also gain a basic understanding of crystal grids, through the vast amounts of literature and guidance in textbooks and online resources, and all are great ways to begin your own crystal grid journey.

To begin with, you don’t need to own a large collection of crystals, maybe just some Clear Quartz pieces and a grid design that resonates with you. You can also use personal items like jewellery, photos, shells, and pebbles if you don’t have any crystals to hand, and you could hand draw a grid design on paper or draw a grid pattern in salt or sand on a plate or tray – all will suffice. Crystal grids need not be complex and expensive, and the simplest of grid designs and crystal layouts can be very effective. Why not try simple shapes like the Circle (Wholeness, Protection, The Self), or the Triangle (Balance, Harmony, Truth. Upwards = Male, Downwards = Female), and the Square (Order, Strength, Stability), or a combination of them all - a Triangle, inside a Circle, inside a Square. The design possibilities are endless, and of course, you can use any pre-designed sacred geometry grid templates if you wish. You cannot go wrong with crystal grids if you do what feels right for you and your cause.

When creating a crystal grid, it’s good to know the basics, what they consist of, and how they work:-

*  Central Focus Stones (aka Anchor Stone) – are representatives of the desired outcome, and facilitators for the crystal grid purpose, which is placed in the centre of the grid design

*  Way Stones (First Ring) - are active, enhancer, amplifier and moderator crystals for the central Focus Stone. Way Stones should be located on the pathway surrounding the central Focus Stone, but they don’t have to be placed in a circular fashion - as the term ‘Ring’ suggests.

*  Desire Stones (Second or Outmost Ring) – are positioned on the outmost edge of a grid design in/on circles, corners and points. They are active stones that collect energy from the Way Stones and central Focus Stone, adding more detail and refinement to the crystal grid.

*  Amplifier Stones – are usually the same type of crystal used throughout, often Clear Quartz, which are placed between active crystals on the grid. Amplifier Stones channel and link energy flow toward the central Focus Stone, like bridges.

*  The Path – Invisible Energy lines (Pathways / Routes) that connect all Desire Stones, Way Stones, Amplifier Stones and Focus Stones. The Path is an energy field that exists between crystals and objects.

*  Sacred Geometry and Grid Designs – are patterns and shapes that serve various spiritual and vibrational purposes. Grids are conduits that harness energy, and aid with intention setting and meditation. Grids are similar to mandalas.

Core principles of crystal grids are to set your intentions and manifest your desires, to harness universal energies and raise your vibration, for meditation and healing, and to attract and repel energy. There is no right or wrong when it comes to developing and planning your own crystal grids. However, you should begin the process in a relaxed state, do what feels natural and not forced, pay attention to your intuition, and acknowledge the feelings associated to your intentions and desires. Don’t forget to enjoy the crystal grid process, as feelings of excitement and enjoyment are high vibrational frequencies which act like powerful magnets, drawing the same vibrational frequency toward it (like attracts like), and the results can be amazing. I would recommend journalling about your crystal grid processes, insights and manifestations. Reflecting back on your journal notes and findings will make for interesting reading, and of course, you will discover what works best for you and your crystal grid practice. When you become more confident with the core principles, then maybe explore other types of crystals and grid designs to really elevate and amplify your practice.

Here are some helpful tips and methods that I use, when planning and producing my own crystal grids:-

Based on my feelings, needs and desires, I select specific crystals for their properties, and I choose or create my grid design. Before positioning my chosen crystals on a grid design, I ensure that my crystals are cleansed and charged. You can cleanse your crystals by Full Moon Light or Sunlight by placing them on your windowsill or on the ground outside – being mindful of the weather, as some crystals are water soluble and could dissolve. You can cleanse crystals in sea salt or rock salt, in a suitable vessel like a large jar, box or bowl (salt cleansing is my most used method and how I store my crystals when not in use). Crystals can be smoke cleansed by Incense and Sage smudging, which is quick and smells lovely. Clear Quartz, Selenite and Carnelian are master cleansing crystals, and they can cleanse and activate all other crystals, so keep them together in a bag or dish. A Selenite bar, plate, or dish is perfect for holding and cleansing all other crystals too.

When charging my crystals (programming with my intentions and beliefs), I usually hold the crystals in my hands, take a few relaxing breaths and I visualise my intentions and goals. Most importantly, I feel the energy of the positive outcome that I wish to attract, or the feeling of freedom and relief when negative energies are released. Both attracting and releasing can feel positive. Be aware of the energy associated to your feelings, which acts as your magnetic attraction point, as what you feel (good or bad) you will magnetically draw towards you. To manifest positive situations, keep negative emotions out of the equation like ‘I’m not good enough, nothing good ever happens to me, or this is rubbish, and it won’t work!’. It’s human to doubt and ask questions, but this is counterproductive energy for crystal grid work. A belief is a thought that we repeatedly think, and we tend to believe our feelings, so therefore, belief and feelings are the most powerful energies to program your crystals and grid with. As the saying goes, ‘believe to achieve.’

Sacred geometry patterns and grid designs will require charging (programming) in a similar way as crystals, to activate and prepare the grid for its purpose. A grid design acts like a circuit board and provides a visual of the pathways as mentioned previously. Charging a grid with your intentions and purposes, will strengthen the metaphysical and symbolic properties. There are several ways to activate and charge a grid, which can be performed by drawing with a crystal wand or a crystal point (Clear Quartz or Selenite are excellent choices), or perhaps your index finger of your dominant hand. Start at the centre point of the grid and draw outwardly to the edge of the design and then back to the centre, like drawing flower petals. Repeat this action all the way around the grid until you return back to the starting position. Finally, from the centre point, draw outwards to the edge, encircle the whole grid (to the left or right depending on attracting or repelling) and return to the centre point to finish. If you prefer, you can follow the patterns and lines of a grid design, starting at the centre and drawing outwardly, encircling the whole design and returning to the centre to finish. Whilst drawing, you could think or speak aloud, your affirmations, wishes, and intentions. The direction of drawing and dowsing will instruct the grid to attract or repel: Clockwise (to the right) for attraction and manifestation, and Anti-clockwise (to the left) to repel and release. (Remember: Right to Receive and Left to Leave). Pendulum Dowsing is another good way to charge and activate your grid design, using the aforementioned directional principles. A Clear Quartz or Selenite Pendulum are excellent choices for charging and activating a grid. Activating and charging a grid is a personal meditative process, so allow yourself to intuitively go with the flow.

Cleansing and charging will instruct and contribute to the interactions between the crystals and the grid, including the Focus Stone (also known as the Anchor Stone) at the centre. The focus stone at the centre of the grid layout, acts as a representative for your desired outcome, and facilitates the purpose and intentions being set, and of course, it should be cleansed and charged like all other crystals being used. For example, if you wish to create more prosperity, then place a prosperity focus stone (Citrine is an excellent choice) at the centre of the grid. All other crystals placed around the focus stone, serve as amplifiers and attractors - depending on the purpose of the crystal grid being created. Once the crystals are in position on the grid, a continuous energy build-up will occur. In my opinion, the longer the crystals and grids are left untouched to generate and build-up energy, the more powerful the whole process becomes, so it’s a win win!

Each crystal has its own singular purpose and colour vibrational quality, and when placed on a grid with differing crystals, they will affect and interact with each other’s frequencies and properties. The layout and combination of crystals on a grid design can be very powerful. Crystals that are a pointed in shape (single or double ended points) are often used as directional arrows (Amplifiers) for the flow of energies, such as Clear Quartz points, which is a master crystal. For example, a crystal grid with pointed crystals facing inwardly towards the centre, will amplify and direct energy towards the Focus Stone. It may be useful to imagine that crystals are like batteries with positive (+) and negative (-) charges. Using crystal points and other shaped crystals is a personal choice, and they can add more intent and purpose to the overall crystal grid creation, depending on their colour, properties, and shape.

Here is a simple guide to Crystal Colours, Properties and Shapes:-

*  Indigo Crystals – Meditation, Intuition, Esoteric (Third Eye Chakra)

*  Violet/Purple Crystals – Royalty, Spirituality, Mystery (Crown Chakra)

*  White/Clear Crystals – Clarity, Ascension, Cleansing (Crown Chakra & Soul Star Chakra)

Crystal Shapes:-

*  Animals – Totems, Spirit Guides, Natural World, Movement

*  Circle – Wholeness, Oneness, The Self, Protection.

*  Cube – Structured, Reliable, Secure.

*  Egg – Birth, Fertility, New Beginnings.

*  Heart – Love, Emotions, Relationships.

*  Merkaba Star – Spiritual Truths, Clairvoyance, Divine Connection.

*  Moon (Crescent or Sphere) – Intuition, Inner Self, Feminine.

*  Obelisk - Channels Energy (similar to pyramids), Connects Physical and Spiritual.

*  Point – Focus, Direction, Positive.

*  Pyramid – Healing, Meditation, Channels Energy.

*  Sphere – Completion, The World, Everything.

*  Square - Order, Strength, Stability.

*  Star – Wishes, Hopes, Renewal.

*  Sun – Positivity, External Self, Masculine.

*  Triangle - Balance, Harmony, Truth. Upwards = Male, Downwards = Female.

As indicated above, the colours and shapes of crystals have symbolic and divinatory meanings, which can be useful when setting your intentions for your crystal grid. Selecting crystals for their shapes, colours and properties is a personal choice. Your crystals will affect and interact with each other regardless of their size, colour and shape – but for optimum crystal grid energy, aim to use the principles of balance, flow, and harmony – usually with crystals of a similar size and positioned in an evenly-spaced layout.

Also, crystals can vary massively in price, and it can be easy to spend large amounts of money on precious stones if you are a crystal enthusiast. Creating crystal grids need not be expensive, so keep in mind that when you are selecting and purchasing your crystals, you don’t always have to go for a more intense colour or clearer type of crystal, as this won’t make things work any faster or better. For instance, a pale lilac Grade B less expensive Amethyst will perform and work the same as a deep purple Grade A expensive Amethyst – because both are Amethyst. Of course, this is my personal opinion, and I think it’s more about personal choice and which crystals you feel drawn to. Similarly, grid patterns can be complex and intricate and look aesthetically pleasing, but it doesn’t mean that it is more or less powerful than a simple straight forward grid design - they ultimately serve the same purpose. Grid designs and sacred geometry templates help to create balance and harmony with the positioning of the crystals, they direct the flow of energy and intentions, and where lines and shapes interlock and meet, they connect each crystal to its nearest counterpart. Again, grid designs are a personal choice, whether fancy or simple.

Overall, the intentions and beliefs that you program into your chosen crystals and your choice of grid design, will always hold more meaning and serve a greater purpose, than by selecting crystals and grids for aesthetics alone. Whatever your preference is, be it bold, complex, simple, inexpensive, large or small – have fun with the creative process of crystal grids and manifest your desires into reality.
